Probably one of my favorite podcasts.
Can’t get enough
Not only do I love Search Engine and the interesting and thoughtful questions that PJ asks of the world and of his guests, but I have also been introduced to some of my favorite podcasts through this show. Thank you guys!
Listen to this guy.
He’s young enough to still be hip, and old enough to be authoritative. Every episode seems like it should have taken MONTHS to produce. And they just keep comin’. Listen to all the episodes for free, then get incognito. You’ll want to.
if only PJ's laugh didn't sound like Woody Woodpecker's
I leap to turn down the volume when he goes on an extended paroxysm, but it's not always possible. Humor is always welcome, but a little subtlety would make the lighter moments less painful.
Interesting and Unique
Search Engine’s solid. PJ asks weird questions and makes them stick with you. Not every episode hits but most do, and even the misses are interesting. It feels human, curious, sometimes messy, which is why it works
Great show!
Nice balance of entertaining and informative. Very enjoyable to listen to!
Perfectly binge-able
Such a great show - absolutely love. Originally a reply all fan and so thrilled to have this content available and in my life. By far my favorite podcast
Really Strong
Delightful, clever, and frothy. Reminds me of all those great NPR shows like radio lab and this American life.
The best
Every episode captivates you in a way that few podcasts do these days.
Favorite podcast
Search Engine is, currently, my favorite podcast. Always interesting and thoughtful. PJ Vogt and his group put in the extra work that makes Search Engine shine. Keep up the good work!
“The Obituary”
Amazing job, team.
Great show!
Ever since I heard PJ as a recommendation from freakonomics, I’ve been hooked. From the goofy to the serious, I always learn something new and am glad to have spent that time. They do a great job taking a random topic like cat people into a full story and adding color in all the right places! Also, update, but I think the key is he’s just a great interviewer. He can pull the most interesting stories out of people in a way that you really learn something about that person and the subject matter. Perfection!
No more chewing please
I love your podcast but the chewing sounds in the last episode made me want to commit murder. Never do that again.

If I gave you doler for every time I listen to this show pj would be a millionaire
Thoughtful & well-made podcast
Been a fan since the old days. PJ, it’s been very cool to “grow up” with you (I say, being essentially the same age as you) and see your skills as a storyteller and your thoughtfulness & maturity as a human develop. (I know there’s something about a parasocial relationship in that statement, but at least I’m self-aware enough to recognize it). Keep up the good work - you and the entire crew. To anyone reading this… sign up for Incognito Mode and give the team more money. It costs money to make this stuff.
Virtute
PJ, thank you for the casual Virtute reference in the Cuddly Killers episode - you might be a cat person just on the basis of that alone, despite the allergies.
Fantastic show
Great show. Amazing quality. Big fan.
Fantastic podcast, always fascinating.
I’ve loved this show since the beginning, I’ve listened to every episode, I find them all fascinating and thorough and enlightening. Truly one of my most beloved podcasts.
Terrific
For a super short period of time, I had a favorite podcast called “Mystery Show” with Starlee Kine. And then there was Reply All, also a favorite. Search Engine is different from both, but scratches a similar itch for me. PJ is freaking awesome, the kind of host you wish you knew and could just call up on the phone. I am late to this party but delighted because now I can binge it.
Love but please vet guests
I love this podcast and am a subscriber. That being said, I found the guest journalist on the recent Psychic episode to be quite sexist and boomer-y. Complaining that his interviewee the Medium was responding in “paragraphs”and immediately fading her interview responses out instead of letting us listen to her answers…saying she didn’t come across as seriously as meditation leaders, the dismissive skepticism of something newer generations are much more open to…it all just felt very outdated and off-putting, which is the opposite of how I usually see this podcast.
Thank you Dan Harris
Just listed to the podcast via 10%. Total enjoyment with learning at every angle. Looking forward to listening to past episodes. Wonderful tone and easy to listen to it’s not American Band Stand but it will make you think!
